Highlighting Non-Profits of Winston-Salem One Organization at a Time

Who is your go to when donating Winston-Salem?

By Jeffrey Willey Publisher Macaroni KID Winston-Salem, NC October 13, 2022

Are you someone who is looking to make a change in the world?  Do you see good deeds being done and want to do your part?  Maybe you have a personal attachment to a certain organization.  Whatever the case may be, non-profit companies depend on the support of outside public funding.  It is downright imperative to their survival.  As you plan your day, please take the time to make a plan to help.

There are so many ways that we can help in our community. Some non-profits are looking for supplies, while some simply need volunteers. Of course, there is the traditional financial donation that allows organizations to stay afloat. Not to mention, some of you are looking for tax breaks. Donating to a non-profit allows you to write that donation off.

Many non-profit organizations in and around the Winston-Salem area are looking for help from people in our community.  People like you!  At Macaroni KID Winston-Salem, we will be highlighting a different non-profit organization weekly nominated by our readers. If you have a non-profit organization you would like to nominate, please email us at mackidwinstonsalem@macaronikid.com.  All nominations must be made by a current subscriber of Macaroni KID Winston-Salem. This week, we recognize:

LOVE OUT LOUD

1650 Ivy Ave., Winston-Salem.  (336) 747-3067 or email Serve@LoveOutLoveWS.com

Love Out Loud began in 2008 with the very first Christmas for the City at the Millennium Center. With two simple phrases of “look for the activity of God” and “be the hands and feet of Jesus” on our brainstorming flipchart, Love Out Loud began as a desire to link arms with other churches to be the presence of Christ in the heart of our city.

Since that time, Love Out Loud has built strong relationships to form a collective of Christ-centered churches (over 80), groups, and individuals living out Christ's call to love our neighbor. Together, they partner with other local community organizations (200+ non-profits and scores of marketplace and civic leaders) for the flourishing of Winston-Salem.

Responding to the activity of God, the dreams of neighborhoods, and the callings of people, Love Out Loud connects the many great efforts across our city, convenes groups of like-minded leaders around shared causes, and accelerates innovative ideas born out of collaboration and complex thinking, built on relational capital, and grounded in spiritual transformation. Through the process, Love Out Loud hopes to serve and strengthen local churches while fully engaging others working for the good of our city.

Every year Love Out Loud, local churches, businesses, and members of the arts community come together to throw a free citywide Christmas party that features live music and art performances, original work by local artists, a make-your-own toy workshop, and Santa Claus.

This year, Christmas for the City will:

  • Be on Saturday, December 17th from 1:00 - 6:00 pm for the community to come together in a safe and celebratory way!
  • Feature an online platform with citywide music, arts, and other interactive areas
  • Give our community opportunities to connect, pray over the community, and share your experiences
  • Provide ways to SERVE and ENGAGE like never before!

Incorporating all of the arts:  drama, dance, music, literature, painting, drawing, and more provide the framework for the event.  All artists are invited to contribute works around the theme of “Love Out Loud.” Celebrating the diversity of our community: people across all generational, ethnic and socio-economic groups plan the event, participate and attend.  Inclusivity is a high value. Honoring those at work in our city: the non-profit organizations and ministries that work tirelessly all year long are highlighted and served. To find out how you can get involved, go to the GET INVOLVED tab of their web site.  Click the CONNECT tab for a variety of ways to communicate with the staff at Love Out Loud.  We invite individuals, churches, artists, businesses and non-profits to join us for Christmas for the City 2022: Saturday, December 17th.  And, most importantly, join us in loving God and loving people.
