Standing in Line is a Drag -

Not at Yama's Mediterranean Street Food

Waiting in line can sometimes feel like a tedious task, especially when you have little ones in tow. However, Yama's Mediterranean Street Food turns the waiting experience into a culinary delight. Their "Build Your Favorite" menu transforms the waiting-in-line tunnel into an opportunity to craft a personalized meal.

If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing it, let me guide you through the process. And for those who have, I can almost see you reaching for your keys to head to either of their two fantastic locations: 624 W. 4th Street or 1330 Creekshire Way, both in Winston-Salem.

About the line: My go-to is their 1/2 grain, 1/2 salad combination. You can check out their menu [link provided] to follow along. I typically opt for 1/2 lemon basmati rice and 1/2 arugula. The journey continues to the Dips and Spreads section, where I always choose tzatziki cucumber and feisty feta mousse. Progressing swiftly to the protein section, I go for the pomegranate-braised lamb, though they offer gyro meat, chicken souvlaki, and even vegan choices like falafel fritters and dolmades.

Now, the exciting part: toppings! The image I've included probably caught your eye. The variety is so extensive that you could enjoy a different meal every day for a year—a tempting challenge indeed! With options like roasted beet salad, sumac pickled onions, marinated chickpeas, and cauliflower tabbouleh, there's no wrong choice. To complete your bowl, select your favorite sauce; mine is the lemon and lime tahini. And to make the meal even better, don't forget to pair it with their Rose Lemonade.

In summary, if you haven't visited Yama's Mediterranean Street Food, treat yourself to an experience of incredible food and outstanding service!
