The Purple Bench says Farewell

By Jeffrey Willey Macaroni KID Winston-Salem Publisher September 4, 2024

After five colorful and creative years, The Purple Bench, located at 3784 Bethania Station Road, has decided to close the doors of its beloved brick-and-mortar studio. This vibrant art space, which has been a cornerstone of creativity in our community, will shift its focus to commissioned work, art shows, and private bookings for paint parties.

While the physical space will close, The Purple Bench remains committed to its mission of fostering creativity, especially among children. At the heart of the studio’s work was the Kids Creative Program, a cherished part of The Purple Bench’s identity. This program not only nurtured young artists but also served as the driving force behind the studio’s vibrant energy and success.

As we say goodbye to the studio, there is still much to look forward to. Be on the lookout for Pop-Up workshops, especially those designed for kids, which will continue to inspire creativity in our community. Even without a permanent location, The Purple Bench is determined to keep the creative spirit alive, providing opportunities for young artists to flourish.

Another essential part of The Purple Bench's legacy is their dedication to volunteer work. The holiday season favorite, the Giving Tree, will continue to spread joy, helping families and children celebrate Christmas with a little extra magic. This tradition has made a significant impact, and The Purple Bench will keep finding ways to give back.

Through every stroke of a brush and every artistic endeavor, The Purple Bench attributes its success to the unwavering support of the community. Their gratitude runs deep, and they remain committed to fostering creativity, sharing their talents, and making a difference.

To the current Kids Creative Team—Sophia, Nora, Addie, Kaden, and Zoe—remember, life is meant to be lived in color! Mr. Jeff believes in you—stay creative!

As The Purple Bench moves into this new chapter, we can’t wait to see how their artistic journey evolves. Let’s continue to support them as they find new and exciting ways to share their gifts with us all!
