Farmers Markets 411

There is nothing better than homegrown goodness

By Jeffrey Willey Macaroni KID Winston-Salem Publisher June 29, 2023

I love that we have year-round farmers markets in Winston-Salem, but something about roaming in the Summer through all the local vendors' spaces is more appealing for this guy.  It could be my love for fresh fruits, and nothing is better than local honey.  Let's not get me started on the pick-your-own spots in Winston-Salem!  We would be here all day.

We love supporting our local farmers and buying locally-grown produce and goods. It helps the people we know and trust and keeps our local market alive and well. Plus, it's fun for the whole family to visit a pick-your-own (PYO) farm or a farmers market in Winston-Salem!

Here are four things to note before heading out to farmer's markets or PYO farms in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area:

  • Pick-your-own farms can sometimes change hours on short notice depending on weather, product availability, and other factors. It's best to call ahead to make sure pick-your-own is available that day. Prices can also change from day to day.
  • Bring your own containers or bags to avoid any extra charges!
  • Bring cash, as some Winston-Salem farmer's market stands and pick-your-own farms don't take credit cards.
